The How to On Creating Transformative Visions

Good morning followers,

I'm really ecstatic about this Future Self Life Coaching taught by Kimberly Rich at Transformation Academy!

Today, I'm going to talk about an exciting topic, creating your own vision! If you've ever done any vision work or filled in a vision board, it really is an eye- opening perspective into looking into areas of your life that desire to change.

Here's a typical example of a vision board:

Now, this offering from Kimberly Rich, through this " Future -Self Life Coach"  with again my answers looks like this:

Phase 1: Pre-Session Preparation

(The purpose is to create a strong foundation for vision work by understanding where your client is beginning from and what might be "holding them back")

Current Understanding of the Client's Situation: Long term Imposter Syndrome, participated in push/pull relationships and sacrificed her own personal growth, creativity, and power due to lack of self-esteem, low self-confidence, low self-worth, and the inability to take bigger risks for herself with her safer support groups.

Potential Vision Blocks to Watch For:

  • Fear of commitment to specific vision
  • Limited by present-self thinking
  • Past disappointments creating resistance(this is one of mine)
  • Societal/family expectations creating boundaries (this is one of mine)
  • Lack of permission to dream bigger
  • Other
Phase 2:Session Framework

1. Clear the Space
( Purpose: This is to create psychological safety and acknowledgement of the present before exploring the future. This helps clients to feel seen where they are first before asking them to "envision" where they're going.")

Safety-Building Statements to Use:

  1. "Everything you're feeling about this process is valid."
  2. "There's no rush-we can explore at your pace."
  3. "You don't have to have everything figured out right now."
  4. "Your vision can evolve as you do."
  5. "You have permission to dream beyond what seems possible."
Opening Questions:

  • 1. What's already working in your life? Strong support system, healthy program, I'm self-supporting, moving forward from many toxic past relationships.
  • 2. Where do you feel stuck? Comparison thinking, Unrealistic time constraints on myself as far as "being there already" (SHAME- SHOULD HAVE MASTERED THAT ALREADY), Realizing not everyday will be a high achievement day
  • What permissions do you need? " One Day at a Time", "You are doing great where you are", "You are feeling where you need to relax, where you need to work, where you need to have fun, and where you need time for yourself, and time for others."
2. Break Pattern
(Purpose: This interrupts present-self thinking patterns that will limit vision creation. Help clients step out of their current constraints and access their individual expanded possibilities.)

Pattern Interruption Questions:

  1. What if you had a billion dollars at your disposal?
  2. What if you knew you couldn't fail?
  3. What if you had everyone's full support and approval?
  4. What if you woke up tomorrow with unlimited resources?
  5. What if you already achieved everything you're aspiring for?
  6. What if you're already living in complete alignment with your values?
  7. What if you had all the time in the world?
  8. What if you personally were guaranteed to succeed?
3. Build the Bridge
(Purpose: To create a concrete connection between present reality and future vision using sensory-rich exploration as well as emotional anchoring.)

First-Layer Vision Questions:

  • What does your Future Self know that you don't know yet?
  • What problems is your Future Self no longer solving?
  • What conversations is your Future Self having?
  • What decisions come easily to your Future Self?
  • How does your Future Self spend their time?
  • What boundaries does your Future Self maintain?
Deepening Questions:

  1. What had to change internally for that to be possible?
  2. Who else is benefitting from this vision?
  3. What beliefs did you have to release in order to get there?
  4. What new truths did you have to embrace?
  5. What skills did you master along the way/journey?
  6. How has your relationship with (money/time/success) evolved?
Integration Questions:

  • How does this vision change your decisions today?
  • What's the first evidence you'll see of this vision manifesting?
  • What support does this vision require?
  • What small shifts can you make immediately?
  • How will you know you're on the right path?
  • What becomes possible when you achieve this vision?
Phase 3: Vision Clarity Check
( Purpose: To ensure the vision is complete, compelling, and also capable of pulling the client forward.)

Specific Elements of Vision:

Professional: Continue on your path of "design" at your own pace.
Relationships: Continue to put yourself out there with people you trust yet do it at a level that offers you "mutuality".
Personal Growth: Continue to balance your life with reading, creativity, fun, work, service, time with those who matter.
Impact: Find areas in your life that give you purpose and promote your skills.
Lifestyle: Continue to work on lessening stress, increasing love, increasing gratitude, and increasing areas of letting go of people, places, and things that harm or hurt you.

Emotional Connection to Vision
Primary emotions expressed: fear, shame, pain
Underlying motivations revealed: forgiveness, compassion, release of strong intense Inner envy

Vision Strength Indicators: Rate 1-5 (1= Needs Work, 5= Very Strong)
Clarity 5 (Can they see it?)
Emotional Connection 1 (Can they feel it?)
Believability 1 ( Can they own it?)
Pull 1 ( Does it energize them?)
Actionability 1 ( Can they move toward it?)

Phase 4: Post-Session Integration
(Purpose: To document key insights and plan next steps to maintain client's momentum).

Breakthrough Moments:

I'm seeing how my Push-Pull Relationships in life has affected my emotional connection, my self-esteem and confidence, and the inability to act.
Also, the Imposter Syndrome I've had all my life has been tied to envy, inner "unforgiveness", comparison to others, and a "deep longing for not only others to believe in what I've said, shown them, or done, but myself as well.

Resistance Points:

If I don't believe it, see it, or even engage in a dysfunctional relationship of push/pull, I'll relinquish power and abandon myself, not seeing myself "as good enough", "qualified enough", or just plain "unworthy". I will then give over all of my research, time, materials to another who I fear is more qualified, powerful, or worthy. This is the set-up for my own resentment and not allowing myself to experience the freedom of stepping into a new role, a new idea, a new job, etc.

Questions That Created Shifts:

  • How does this vision change your decisions today? I'm letting go of my old patterns and ways of looking at things. I'm also not no longer dependent just on me which is scary, lonely, and also ill-equipped to handle so many things in life, relationships, with making a difference in the world, and in changing the way I have taken care of my body, mind, and spirit for 60 years.
  • What support does this vision require? How I get it and where is just as important as the vision itself. My path has taken me to neighbors, family, friends, church, book studies, mommy support groups, 12 Step Groups, choir, painting classes, therapy, the Enneagrams, and so many others.
  • How will I know I'm on the right path? It will be revealed when I'm ready to be "teachable" and see that my old ways of thinking, doing, and behaving got me "sick and tired of being sick and tired". I'm still on the path but today I recognize it instead of continually searching and asking lots of people to make "sure" I'm doing it "right". I'm trusting myself, HP, and others that are doing the same thing and it feels good!
Language Patterns That Worked:

  1. These are emotion-based. I heard people and even myself talking to me with "compassion".
  2. I had to allow self-forgiveness and then offer that to others in order to move forward on my healing path.
  3. I had to do a lot of trauma, mindfulness, and self-love work to release pent-up emotions like envy and rage that I carried around that were blocking me from being able to embracing relating to others and being able to believe in myself and truly love myself.
Phase 5:Follow-Up Plan
(Purpose: To create accountability and support for vision implementation.)

1. Emotional Connection
2. Pull\Push Dynamic
3. Believability
4. Actionability

Quick Reference Guide:

Common Vision Block Solutions:

  • Fear of commitment - Explore cost of not committing
  • Limited Thinking- Use pattern interruption questions
  • Past disappointments-Focus on lessons learned
  • External expectations-Reconnect with internal values
  • Lack of permission
Vision Deepening Process:

1. Start with feelings
2. Move to specifics
3. Create sensory details
4. Establish milestones
5. Connect to present choices

Signs of Vision Alignment:

1. Increased energy
2. Emotional resonance
3. Natural flow of ideas
4. Spontaneous problem-solving
5. Immediate action impulses
