Somatic Yoga

Image
Happy New Year Followers!   I'm taking a "Somatic Healing Life Coach Class " by Tasha Ina Church through Transformation Academy. One of the Somatic Practices she covers in this intensive course is Somatic Yoga. What is Somatic Yoga? Somatic Yoga is yoga that focuses  on the experience, skill, and ease of the movement and transitions.  This differs from traditional yoga where the focus is on "external results."  Somatic yoga allows  us to interpret how we "feel in the moment and respond accordingly". By doing so, we learn new skills more consciously.  Here's a great article from yogajala.com "Explaining Somatic Yoga". https://yogajala.com/somatic-yoga-explained-embodying-your-practice/ The goal for doing Somatic Yoga:  relieve stress improve movement strengthen the mind-body connection reduction of muscle tension  flexibility is gained stretching increases blood flow to the muscles, delivering oxygen and nutrients while eliminating metab...

Vent Journaling... Get in Tune with Your Emotions and Free Your Resentments

Image
Good morning followers! I love this idea from Tasha Ina Church in her course on "Advanced Self-Care and Healing Life Coach Certification" I'm taking from "Transformation Academy". It's called "Vent Journaling" and she suggests it's a way to release the old baggage from your past that you "feel" against someone you hurt you, angered you, disappointed you, etc. This is a way of "finding your voice". You can take a few minutes to write it down, type it down, and then tear it up, burn it, let it float down the water, or have a ceremony with it ... the way you choose to release it is up to YOU! I went online and found this amazing article from youaligned.com  to give you steps to do your own vent journaling! https://youaligned.com/wellness/vent-journaling/ Here's another article from the wellnesscorner.com  on the whole subject of Vent Writing and it's benefits. Here's a free starter from dreamdasjournal.com . Sometim...

What are the Benefits of Humming?

Image
Good afternoon, Followers, As an insatiable learner, this question had me searching! I'm taking a class on "Advanced - Self Care and Healing " from Tasha Ina Church through Transformation Academy. The reason this particular topic caught my attention was: Humming clears the "freeze response " that we often experience when our nervous system feels threatened because of either a stressor or trauma. As a person that had experienced CPTD (COMPLEX POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS SYNDROME), I recognized this right away as a beneficial "tool". How this works is: the body and mind are quick at bringing themselves back into balance. Vibrations from "humming" stimulate your "vagus nerve", which is responsible for calming down your "nervous system". This can help return your body to states other that "freeze"- a more relaxed state where anxiety and panic can't survive. Humming reduces "muscle tension" and also reduces s...

Let's Talk About Stress Reduction and Holidays!

Image
Good morning, followers!   I've been busy taking a new class (surprise, surprise) on Transformation Academy called "Soft Skills Life Coaching" taught by Joeel and Natalie Rivera. Today, with the holiday season, I'd love to talk to you about the topic of "stress reduction". First let's talk about the "stress effect " . Imagine you take a walk and trip. There's a "mild reaction". You do recover quickly. Now, this time, imagine you're walking 2 feet away from the edge of a "cliff" and you trip! You become terrified and your body goes into a complete panic! Now, this time imagine a time where things are going pretty well for you and someone you love left dishes on the table, or you were stuck in traffic. These are "mild irritants". Now this time, imagine you have had a horrible day at work, you've been sick all day, your back is hurting, you're behind on your bills, and you walk in your bathroom in you...

Activating Your Heart Chakra

Image
Good morning followers,    Once again, Kumari Mullin, in her delightful and soothing transformative way, reveals the power of activating sacred heart in the Energy Healing and Alignment Coaching I'm taking on Transformation Academy.  Let's talk about what makes the heart sacred. The heart is the hub of sacred spaces. This energy center is located right in the center of your chest. It has the capability to perfectly balance the world of matter, your lower three chakras with the world of Spirit, your upper three chakras: anahata chakra in Sanskrit means unhurt, unstuck, unbeaten. This Sanskrit translation implies that deep beneath us lie personal stories of personal suffering and pain. This heart chakra is our feeling center. and because it is, can become very, very tender. When we feel hurt or overwhelming emotions, we have a tendency to close it down, so the pain is numbed out. This can happen at a very young age when we were a child, and our tendency to feel is di...

Energy Alchemy and Adopting the Rose Technique for Clearing

Image
Good morning followers!    How excited I am to share this simple yet powerful practice of Rose Clearing. This practice I've learned from Kumari Mullin, i nternationally acclaimed spiritual teacher, intuitive coach, Reiki Master Teacher and best-selling author, in her course, "Energy Alignment Life Coach" is simple yet powerful: Here are the steps: 1. Begin by placing a rose, any color you choose, you can de-thorn it you wish and place it in your "headspace". 2. Now "command" that rose to absorb any tension, any tightness, any worries, or thoughts; any ideas or beliefs that aren't yours or no longer serve your "highest good". 3. Let these all go into the rose. 4.  There's nothing to do, nothing to know, you don't have to get into the thoughts or "understand" where they came from in order to now intend to "clear" them. 5. Even if you can't hold the rose's image very long, it is still capable of clearing...

Integrating the Practice of Journaling into Your Life

Image
Happy Friday Followers!  I've written on this topic before but not in terms of integrating Shadow Work. I'm almost at the end of my Udemy Shadow work  course with Elaina Bianca and today I'm going to look at how she uses the Practice of Journaling  as a Shadow Work Practice into Your Life.  This journaling process may be different than the ones you've heard of or tried before but it's nothing scary and offers so many healing benefits. This breaks down your healing work into 7 different categories. These practical applications align with the seven chakras which are the main energy centers of your BODY and their corresponding THEMES. These categories are: Security, Family, and Ancestral Roots(Root Chakra) Sexuality, Creativity, and Passion(Sacral Chakra) Ambition, Authority, and Power(Solar Plexus Chakra) Love and Relationships(Heart Chakra) Self-Expression and Communication(Throat Chakra) Intelligence, Imagination, and Intuition(Third-Eye Chakra) Connection to ...
